Brigadier General Jacob Ammen

 

 

Jacob Ammen also lived in Georgetown and was a childhood friend of Ulysess Grant. He later became post commander in charge of 75,000 Union soldiers during the Civil War.His school master John D White  also taught school for Ulysses S Grant.Jacobs brother Daniel Ammen who was also  a childhood friend of Grants and later became Admiral of the Navy

207 WEST GRANT

This house built in 1853 was the home of David Tarbell.Who became a probate judge in 1864.He was also a representive at the National Democratic Convention in 1868 at Tammany Hall in New York. In 1871 he was elected Common Pleas Court Judge and served for eleven years.

built in1898  after a fire destroyed the first school building, It remained in service as a school until 1987
